THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT RULES ON SOCIAL SECURITY CONTRIBUTIONS TO AUTHORS, SPORTSMEN AND ARTISTS

The Constitutional Court rules on social security contributions to authors, sportsmen and artists

The obligation to pay social security contributions on income received by the authors, sportsmen and artists is not in contradiction to the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania ruled the Constitutional Court.

However, the Constitutional Court decided that the provision of the law stating that mandatory health insurance shall come into effect next month when the appropriate contributions were paid 3 months in turn contradicts to the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania. The same applies to the legislation that has reduced maternity leave allowance from 100% to 90% when child reaching 1 year and from 85% to 75% when child reaching 2 years.
